This is one of my characters that I’m using for a project! I plan on keeping him around after the project’s done though, so I might as well post his story to keep around. His (temporary) name is Averie, and he is somewhere around seventeen or eighteen years old. He grew up in poverty and relied heavily on his older brother who was constantly working to put food on the table. Seeing this, Averie decided that he would give something back in the form of entertainment. Borrowing his brother’s playing cards, he taught himself magic tricks from a book he got for free from a closing library, and eventually became a street performer. It was during one of his performances that someone noticed his (relatively) unusual eye colour; a deep magenta, and informed him of an old myth in which people born with purple eyes were naturally adept at magic. At that point in his life, Averie believed magic was a joke and didn’t actually exist. Some time after, when he was sixteen, he became very sick with an extremely high fever and became so delusional that he began attempting telekinesis on the cards as part of his “magic act”. After he recovered, he realized he could actually control cards. In his delusional state, he had tapped into his potential for magic. Overjoyed, he showed everyone he knew, but he was pegged a user of black magic and chased out of the village by his own brother. Feeling betrayed and utterly lost, he stopped trying to develop his magic and resigned himself to the life of a traveller.  He kept mostly to himself, is somewhat paranoid, doesn’t like to associate with magic in any way whatsoever and drifts from town to town, surviving solely on the kindness of strangers and good fortune. In terms of the game-timeline, Averie was travelling through a small town when he met a street performer named Ana. She too was a drifter and immediately mentioned his purple eyes and demanded that he come with her.
